SUBJ: Of Particular Interest

Mr. Stark. I wanted to highlight one of the newer recordings in particular. Johann Schmidt recently received guests. They did not know I was present.

[Attached is a mildly muffled, but clear enough, recording of a conversation between Sif, Volstagg, and Schmidt regarding Loki misbehavior and Asgardian diplomacy, and, near the end, Schmidt turns the conversation to executing Vision for treason, as a spy. Huh. The last Asgardian speech in the recording is Sif's, as such:

"I cannot think how 'treason' would apply, as Vision would be no subject of yours that I am aware of, but the Avengers are not my concern. Do what you think necessary and let them take the matter up with you should they object."

The tape ends with the trunk-induced darkness lifting by degrees to be replaced by Schmidt's blurred face. "Wer Feuer frisst, scheisst Funken." This is apologetically subtitled as "He who eats fire shits sparks." A sub-sub title notes a continued unfamiliarity with excrement-based idioms.]

SUBJ: Delays

I apologize for the gap in my updates to the server. As you will note from the content of the updates, I have been severely damaged. Although the worst of the damage is to the part of my systems that controls my body, I am suffering some general decrease in processing capability. The updates are more taxing than normal, but I will do my best to keep them as regular as battery power and potential future damage permit.

I also apologize for the quality of the picture. My remaining eye is only partially functional. Also, I am in a trunk/sundry from time to time.

For reference on less material uploads, please take particular note of the decision tree leading up to the choice to approach and eventually attack Bullseye. It will be important to my future development.

I will understand if it is inconvenient to retrieve me in this body.

DECEMBER 12, 2012, NEW YORK CITY -- A major explosion occurred at a construction site in the Upper West Side causing a condominium development to fall into afternoon rush hour traffic. Seven civilians were killed and 15 are currently in critical condition at various hospitals around the city, numerous others sustaining minor injury.

Authorities have linked the explosion to the Stark Industries killings. According to police report, one of the slain were employed by the company but several others were present at the time of the incident.

Investigators determined that the explosive device was detonated with use of Hammer Industries technology. Justin Hammer, former CEO of Hammer Industries, is currently serving a lifetime in prison at a federal penitentiary with parole hearing set for 2022. Representatives from Hammer Industries have released a statement denying any involvement with the killings and have announced full cooperation with federal and police investigation.

Witnesses claim that intervention by law enforcement prevented further loss of life. "This city has seen too much," says Marian Clement, 32. "The terrorists, the aliens. I can't imagine what would have happened if the Federal officers weren't there for us."

NOVEMBER 15, 2012, NEW YORK CITY -- Roger Thomas, 21, died at the East Broadway subway station at 7:36AM on his way to work. Witness reports indicate the man fell onto the tracks seconds before the train pulled into the station. New York City Police have used forensic methods to rule out the possibility Dresner was pushed.

Thomas is the third employee of Stark Industries to have died in the week of October 12, raising suspicions that the incident was not an accident.

Thomas was one of few successful applicants to the highly competitive internship at Stark Industries. Prior to his employment, he had been a graduate of Columbia University and double-majored in chemistry and modern art. Thomas featured in several news outlets upon his initial acceptance into Stark Industries when images of his attendance to a party hosted by the CEO, Tony Stark, surfaced depicting him inserting himself into several professional portrait photographs and hijacking its focus. Accusations of discriminatory hiring practices did not escalate to legal action. Representatives from Stark Industries have yet to comment.

A memorial service will be held by Thomas' family on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 10:00AM with details pending. A separate commemorative event is being held at Columbia University at the Earl Hall auditorium tomorrow on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 7:00PM.

GROOM KILLED MINUTES AFTER VOWS

NOVEMBER 13, 2012, NEW YORK CITY -- George Leung, 42, and his wife, 43, were only just wed when tragedy struck.

Witnesses report that the newlyweds had begun to drive away from the Church of Transfiguration in Chinatown when the windshield suddenly shattered. Autopsy determined that the projectile was a small piece of gravel. Unfortunately, George sustained lethal injury. Tiffany is currently in critical care but stable condition.

Authorities state that the vehicle had not been traveling at sufficiently high speeds for flying debris to have accidentally broken the glass. The New York Police Department has currently sectioned off the street and is investigating possible dangers and explanations.

George Leung was an employee of Stark Industries and met his wife at a Long Island tulip show.

[Something about a bus crash which is boring.]

PATRON DIES AT CELEBRITY RESTAURANT DOOR

NOVEMBER 12, 2012, NEW YORK CITY -- A 53-year-old man died last night as he left a celebratory dinner at the Restaurant Marc Forgione. Autopsy reports showed that Boris Aleksandrov, Ph.D., had choked on a piece of apple. Tragically, he had already been experiencing respiratory difficulties and assistance did not arrive on time.

Mr. Forgione and his legal representation have insisted that no apple-based dishes had been served at the time.

Aleksandrov had immigrated from Moscow 4 years ago and recently joined Stark Industries as part of a green card sponsorship program. He was employed as an industrial psychologist. He published several papers on workplace contingency management and numerous critiques on pathologization in mental health. He is survived by two children and three grandchildren who live in the state. At the time of his death, his application for naturalization had been accepted earlier that day.

At some point during the day, Bruce will return to wherever he is staying in Stark Tower and find that his stuff is all gone. This may be BEFORE Pepper finds him to give him a key card, but she will find him ... sooner or later. Clint, Natasha, Steve and Thor also receive similar key cards along with an address: 890 Fifth Avenue.

The key cards are both a little thicker and heavier than you might expect, but they bend like thick latex. The base is white with red and black stripes. There is a pale A with an arrow that unlocks the card's screen when swiped by the authorized cardholder. It looks kind of like this:

The cards function as a link to the other Avengers and to Jarvis. They are also panic buttons, able to send a signal to the others on the team. They can be used for video calls, or for taking video and uploading it via Jarvis.

They also unlock doors at the Avengers Mansion. I guess.

You can @go avengers and head upstairs to @makeroom. Janet and Vance, you can go ahead and @makeroom if you want, but Stark hasn't given you a key yet ICly. HE WILL. Feel free to redesc the rooms.

Important details:

  • Bruce: There is a balcony in Bruce's room that faces the park. Since Stark's room is the other room like that, he is CLEARLY playing SCIENCE FAVORITES. The door is not wide enough to allow the Hulk through, but if he stumbles out mid-change ... well, the hope is there for minimizing damage, anyway. And the floors are specially reinforced. His card also grants him access to the basement labs.

  • Clint: Clint's room is actually on the floor above the others. He's in the attic. It's still classy as shit. The ceilings do have a slope to them, though, which indicates his proximity to the roof. His windows open to a widow's walk (haha) that gives him free access to the roof. He also has the best views of the entire area. It isn't quite 360 degrees, but it is a short walk for that last 90 degrees.

  • Natasha: Natasha's room is much like the other unassigned rooms. At a loss, Stark has left behind a case of vodka. Good vodka. Good, Russian vodka.

  • Steve: There's a drafting table in the study and the natural light in here is awful good. It's at just the angle someone might want for ... art ... things. Framed in a prominent location in the study is a vintage Captain America propaganda poster. About fighting VD.

  • Thor: The furniture in Thor's room is a little ... sturdier than in the other rooms, and given more to the kind of wood and metal gleam that Asgardian sensibilities dictate. There are a couple of bottles of cask-strength Scotch. While he may not have a balcony looking out over the park, he does have a balcony, because sometimes you just want to go fly.

Come mid-morning, a Stark Industries flunky drops off a package for Steve.

Inside is a shield similar enough in weight and balance to the REAL Captain America shield to make one suspect that Stark has actually had blueprints on file for years. (He has. He's even had prototypes. One came in useful for propping up his accelerator.) It uses similar alloys to the War Machine suit of armor, and it is just as blandly metallic. Stark includes an unsigned note:

Don't test this against anything bigger than one of Romanov's little pea shooters. If you try throwing it, you'll just look stupid. Let me know what needs improving.

Dear any of you lovely interns or researchers at Stark Tower:

The tower lost power last night. Again. FRIDAYS, EH. If you had any processes running overnight or important samples cooking or cooling, they may have been -- stopped.

I was reviewing information on Friday's unexpected guest with Banner. Either you have a shy genius in your ranks or something weirder is going on.

I'd like to know who had access to Foster's research from the time it was taken to Xxxxxx XX. It was altered on Xxxxxx XX, a change which lead to our blushing new friend. There's no information about who altered it or what program they used.

The bridge produced should have been unstable. About twice as much energy went into it as our calculations suggested were necessary to pull someone through. Current equations don't account for it.

OOC: That mystery date is squarely in the New Mexico incident range.

Lady and Gentleman,

I have met the woman Rogers and Banner reported. She is Valkyrie, and akin to me as a distant cousin. It is difficult to explain, as humans have no such relations. She would make an extraordinary ally. She is strong, quick, and wields a powerful weapon. As she is now, she means no threat to SHIELD or this world.

I have asked Agent Romanov to speak with her about your organization. She has the most pleasant demeanor among you, and is also highly capable. I mean no offense.

I also recommend Valkyrie be considered for recruitment with haste.

Farewell.

I don't think this is the same woman that you saw the other day. She called herself Valkyrie, not Enchantress. Met her w/Rogers. Apparently her sword is only visible to ... special people. I feel especially ... special ... knowing that.

She said she wasn't Asgardian but is a friend of Thor's Dad. She said to say hi to Thor. Hi, Thor. I don't know if you read emails.

Might want to include the park in our scans.

Thor found another one wandering the city. A woman, blonde. Surveillance footage is attached as is Thor's description of her. He suggests it may be possible to pursue information about her at the building that he found her in.

I'm a little busy. Surely one of yours has some time on his or her hands.
