I went to see Lin Huang in SHIELD holding today. He hasn't been speaking to them, but eventually I got at least a little intel out of him. He says that he was hired by someone working for an even bigger fish, and he's pretty convinced that bigger fish is going to have him killed. But the relevant intel is this: this attack on Jen seems to be connected to our current investigations in China in some way. Huang referenced Qinghai specifically. According to him, the plan was to distract the group, separate Jen, and take her in for some project that he wasn't aware of. She was supposed to get handed over to the car that got away.

We'll have to do our best to keep him alive. I gave him my word.

Sincerely,
Captain Steve Rogers

Steve has taken on responsibility for the training of all Avengers and superhero interns (Angelica). This will include various assessments of where people stand with certain skills, individualized attention to focus from the lowest point upwards, as well as training in teamwork and group combat. THE LAST PART IS NOT OPTIONAL. Actually, none of them are optional.

Steve will do plenty of training himself, but he will also delegate training to appropriate sources where necessary, likely pulling from SHIELD for various specializations. Feel free to assume sessions with Steve, particularly in hand-to-hand, which he will do a lot of. He is a good teacher!

Let me know if you want to discuss or play anything! (Except don't expect me to be able to RP in-depth hand-to-hand at the drop of a hat because IT IS HARD OKAY. <3)

SUBJ: Volstagg

There was some activity near the known Bifrost drop-off point in Valhalla, New York. Sif, Pietro, and myself went to check it out and found Thor's companion Volstagg, another of the Warriors Three. We brought him back to the mansion with the rest of them, and I imagine he'll be staying for the forseeable future like his friends.

Sincerely,
Captain Steven Rogers

SUBJECT: The Weis

After discussing the topic with Pietro, I think it's important that a team of us return to China to speak again with Wei Gao's daughter. Now that her brother is dead, she's the last of the family that might have some idea of why Loki is so interested in them. Of course, with Svalbard on our plate, it might have to wait until we can launch an offensive. I'll organize a team, however.

Sincerely,
Cap. Steve Rogers

(OOC: I made a Doodle to play stuff except it might be inaccurate because we will probably be doing Svalbard first, but if you want to do China stuff you could fill it out anyways? IDK. HERE IS A THING.)

SUBJ: Amora

I met with Amora yesterday for our charity date. To my knowledge, she attempted no magic upon me, and told me she had made an arrangement with Thor to not use magic on any of his friends. (Thor, when you mentioned making an agreement with Amora and that the terms weren't relevant to the Avengers or SHIELD, that wasn't really true, and it's always good for us to know terms like this. Please disclose them next time.)

The relevant point is that she made an offer to visit Schmidt and report back to us any useful intelligence she might be able to glean. I'm of several minds on this. I don't get the impression that Amora is out to take over the world or murder people, but the only thing I really trust her to do is be self-interested. She's made a step forward dealing with Thor and warning him of the Blight, but I'd treat any intelligence she came to us with with a certain level of suspicion. Tony, I know you've been working on trying to get intelligence from the SHIELD files. Is there anything a party unaffiliated with us could do in HQ to make that easier for you?

I'd like opinions on this all-around from everyone.

Sincerely,
Captain Steven Rogers

Pepper manages to call a press conference late this morning for Steve to make a statement to the press. He comes dressed in his Captain America uniform, but he takes a breath at the podium and pulls down the cowl to leave his face bare for the cameras. His speech starts out a bit rough around the edges, a little out of practice with the public address. But Captain America finds his rhythm, and there's no denying his conviction.

"Thank you all for coming," he says. "And thank you to Pepper Potts of Stark Industries for setting this up. It's been—a long time since I did something like this.

"My name is Steve Rogers. I was born on July 4, 1918. I was 24 when I enlisted in the United States Army in 1942; it was my fifth attempt. As part of Operation: Rebirth, I eventually became Captain America. I did my best to serve my country until my final mission left me frozen in the Arctic. They tell me that it was the enhancements I was given that helped me survive. Since I woke up, I've continued to do my best to do what my country needs of me. I accepted the call to the Avengers to help stop a global threat, and by working together, we managed to avert the worst of the catastrophe centered in New York City.

"I'm telling you all this because I hope it will make you believe the more difficult thing I have to say, which is this: yesterday you may have watched a speech by a man calling himself Loki and claiming to be an Asgardian representative to the UN. That is a lie. Loki is a war criminal who was the mastermind behind the attacks on New York City. He has managed to escape justice in his home world of Asgard in order to return to Earth. He is not a diplomat or an authorized representative of Asgard; he is a wanted criminal responsible for the murders of thousands of innocent people. I don't know how he managed to convince the UN that he was on the level, but I can tell you this: whatever this man has said to you, it's a lie. He is a manipulator capable of using alien technology to affect the minds of his victims. I urge you not to believe him.

"A lot of information may be classified, but I'll do my best to answer whatever questions I can. Again, thank you all for coming."

(OOC: Have questions you think the press should ask? Reply with them and I'll answer! THIS PRESS CONFERENCE IS OVER.)

SUBJ: Meeting

We need to have an Avengers meeting to discuss a way to address the Amora threat as a team. Not as individuals.

[The email goes on to list some particular meeting time, because Avengers obviously dont need WiG to coordinate their meetings. BUT WE DO. So GO HERE and put in your availability times if you have an Avengers alt and want to participate!]

Sincerely,
Captain Steve Rogers

At some point during the day, Bruce will return to wherever he is staying in Stark Tower and find that his stuff is all gone. This may be BEFORE Pepper finds him to give him a key card, but she will find him ... sooner or later. Clint, Natasha, Steve and Thor also receive similar key cards along with an address: 890 Fifth Avenue.

The key cards are both a little thicker and heavier than you might expect, but they bend like thick latex. The base is white with red and black stripes. There is a pale A with an arrow that unlocks the card's screen when swiped by the authorized cardholder. It looks kind of like this:

The cards function as a link to the other Avengers and to Jarvis. They are also panic buttons, able to send a signal to the others on the team. They can be used for video calls, or for taking video and uploading it via Jarvis.

They also unlock doors at the Avengers Mansion. I guess.

You can @go avengers and head upstairs to @makeroom. Janet and Vance, you can go ahead and @makeroom if you want, but Stark hasn't given you a key yet ICly. HE WILL. Feel free to redesc the rooms.

Important details:

  • Bruce: There is a balcony in Bruce's room that faces the park. Since Stark's room is the other room like that, he is CLEARLY playing SCIENCE FAVORITES. The door is not wide enough to allow the Hulk through, but if he stumbles out mid-change ... well, the hope is there for minimizing damage, anyway. And the floors are specially reinforced. His card also grants him access to the basement labs.

  • Clint: Clint's room is actually on the floor above the others. He's in the attic. It's still classy as shit. The ceilings do have a slope to them, though, which indicates his proximity to the roof. His windows open to a widow's walk (haha) that gives him free access to the roof. He also has the best views of the entire area. It isn't quite 360 degrees, but it is a short walk for that last 90 degrees.

  • Natasha: Natasha's room is much like the other unassigned rooms. At a loss, Stark has left behind a case of vodka. Good vodka. Good, Russian vodka.

  • Steve: There's a drafting table in the study and the natural light in here is awful good. It's at just the angle someone might want for ... art ... things. Framed in a prominent location in the study is a vintage Captain America propaganda poster. About fighting VD.

  • Thor: The furniture in Thor's room is a little ... sturdier than in the other rooms, and given more to the kind of wood and metal gleam that Asgardian sensibilities dictate. There are a couple of bottles of cask-strength Scotch. While he may not have a balcony looking out over the park, he does have a balcony, because sometimes you just want to go fly.

Come mid-morning, a Stark Industries flunky drops off a package for Steve.

Inside is a shield similar enough in weight and balance to the REAL Captain America shield to make one suspect that Stark has actually had blueprints on file for years. (He has. He's even had prototypes. One came in useful for propping up his accelerator.) It uses similar alloys to the War Machine suit of armor, and it is just as blandly metallic. Stark includes an unsigned note:

Don't test this against anything bigger than one of Romanov's little pea shooters. If you try throwing it, you'll just look stupid. Let me know what needs improving.
