He found us in a bar last night. I don't know how or what he hoped to accomplished. We opened fire, which did very little good, and he used his spear to plop me into Budapest. Gave me a hell of a burn, too.

Hawkeye escaped without harm. Still not clear how. He says Loki didn't touch him, but he's agreed to a full check-over once he returns. Van Dyne wasn't there, she's safe.

It feels like he let us go. I don't like it.

We'll be back tomorrow.

Report attached. We got some info on security and layout.

Hawkeye and I stumbled across a farm with a lot of dead people and I'm pretty sure some missing body parts. Info in the report, along with photos. Have fun.

- NR

Info in the report includes:

  • Info on the security systems of Doom's castle, though it's a bit vague and only as specific as non-expert Janet can manage.
  • Both descriptions and drawings of 'mystical looking stuff' Jan saw in the labs.
  • A layout of a decently substantial portion of the castle
  • Indication that Schmidt heads out and about with some frequency, and the door he uses to do it.
  • Description of the Chitauri tech she found, as well as some human-looking tech kept (used?) with it.
  • Couple of times, there looked to be friction between Doom and Loki, but it never seemed to escalate.
  • Doom really does wear that armor everywhere. Everywhere.
  • The location of the farm where Clint and Natasha found a bunch of dismembered bodies that don't seem to add up to the needed number of wholes, as well as a bunker, which they searched thoroughly. From this log.
  • Pictures of the farm, the bodies, the bunker, etc etc.

Before Natasha hops a plane for Latveria Monday night, each Avenger has a folder on their pillow (wherever said pillow may be). Inside are thirteen one-page dossiers (such an auspicious number to begin with) that lay out the basics of each teammate, new and old. They're far from complete SHIELD files, but they give a brief overview of abilities and history (though not of secret identities). A note written in a sloppy scrawl reads 'Welcome to the Avengers' and is stuck to the pillow with one of these:

It doesn't do anything fun like talk to Jarvis.

Happy reading, kids.

I encountered a chatty woman at a restaurant in Midtown today. She thought I worked at Stark Tower and set straight in with the questions about Stark and his 'friends'.

She went specifically after Thor. After she arranged to touch me, I found myself abruptly more inclined to truth-telling than is usual.

The restaurant had surveillance footage. I've attached as clear an image as I could manage.

At some point during the day, Bruce will return to wherever he is staying in Stark Tower and find that his stuff is all gone. This may be BEFORE Pepper finds him to give him a key card, but she will find him ... sooner or later. Clint, Natasha, Steve and Thor also receive similar key cards along with an address: 890 Fifth Avenue.

The key cards are both a little thicker and heavier than you might expect, but they bend like thick latex. The base is white with red and black stripes. There is a pale A with an arrow that unlocks the card's screen when swiped by the authorized cardholder. It looks kind of like this:

The cards function as a link to the other Avengers and to Jarvis. They are also panic buttons, able to send a signal to the others on the team. They can be used for video calls, or for taking video and uploading it via Jarvis.

They also unlock doors at the Avengers Mansion. I guess.

You can @go avengers and head upstairs to @makeroom. Janet and Vance, you can go ahead and @makeroom if you want, but Stark hasn't given you a key yet ICly. HE WILL. Feel free to redesc the rooms.

Important details:

  • Bruce: There is a balcony in Bruce's room that faces the park. Since Stark's room is the other room like that, he is CLEARLY playing SCIENCE FAVORITES. The door is not wide enough to allow the Hulk through, but if he stumbles out mid-change ... well, the hope is there for minimizing damage, anyway. And the floors are specially reinforced. His card also grants him access to the basement labs.

  • Clint: Clint's room is actually on the floor above the others. He's in the attic. It's still classy as shit. The ceilings do have a slope to them, though, which indicates his proximity to the roof. His windows open to a widow's walk (haha) that gives him free access to the roof. He also has the best views of the entire area. It isn't quite 360 degrees, but it is a short walk for that last 90 degrees.

  • Natasha: Natasha's room is much like the other unassigned rooms. At a loss, Stark has left behind a case of vodka. Good vodka. Good, Russian vodka.

  • Steve: There's a drafting table in the study and the natural light in here is awful good. It's at just the angle someone might want for ... art ... things. Framed in a prominent location in the study is a vintage Captain America propaganda poster. About fighting VD.

  • Thor: The furniture in Thor's room is a little ... sturdier than in the other rooms, and given more to the kind of wood and metal gleam that Asgardian sensibilities dictate. There are a couple of bottles of cask-strength Scotch. While he may not have a balcony looking out over the park, he does have a balcony, because sometimes you just want to go fly.

I've recommended that Stark incorporate Doctor Selvig and his data into his investigation of Asgardian technology. While I don't expect him to be included beyond the bare minimum, I trust Selvig to report if he notices anything untoward or otherwise alarming in research we do not currently have access to. Provided that he can bargain his way within fifty feet of it.

Lady and Gentleman,

I have met the woman Rogers and Banner reported. She is Valkyrie, and akin to me as a distant cousin. It is difficult to explain, as humans have no such relations. She would make an extraordinary ally. She is strong, quick, and wields a powerful weapon. As she is now, she means no threat to SHIELD or this world.

I have asked Agent Romanov to speak with her about your organization. She has the most pleasant demeanor among you, and is also highly capable. I mean no offense.

I also recommend Valkyrie be considered for recruitment with haste.

Farewell.

A recent acquaintance of mine desires to learn more about the Avengers. She is a person of extraordinary talents and would be a powerful ally. If you are available, I think you would be best to greet her. Please make yourself available at midday tomorrow and meet her at Stark Tower. See my most recent report for further information. What is it you say? *there is a pause, and then booming laughter* Thank you for your cooperation.

Tony Stark tried to cut a deal with me today for access to any Asgardian tech we have. I offered up access in our research space in exchange for any information he might glean in his research into Asgardian artifacts. He's currently playing with Thor's hammer, and may have a few other tidbits.

No dice. He tried to walk me in circles. Willing to hand us any info he uncovers re: identifying and tracking the tech, but nothing more. Not even direct to you.

Tony Stark needs to learn to play with the team.

Thought you ought to know, in case you think the trade is worth it.

But even with his last-minute self-sacrificey nature, I don't trust him as far as I can throw him. Not yet.
