LOCAL & WORLD NEWS
  • A handful of Stuttgart locals have come forward to support Steve's version of events. The news media spent hours, at least, feeding back in on this -- drawing up video from the UN speech, Steve's speech, then pointing out Loki's absence at the meeting of world leaders.
  • So maybe Loki's a bad guy, after all. Multiple networks put out offers for interviews. Daily Show?
  • A managerial restructuring of most companies is not interesting enough to make the news, but with the company in question being Stark Industries and the Avengers still being a thing, it's enough to cause nervous flutters on the financial networks. SI is down 7 points. They are still head-hunting.
  • Bruce's lab is back up to spec with a tunnel to Central Park. A big tunnel. Just in case.
  • The magic detection protocols were down for a few days, but swiftly restored. (See: Loki.)
  • JARVIS is still down as Stark digs through his systems. He's estimated to be back online Monday, barring disaster. (See: Fucking Loki again.)

WSC
  • Natasha and Clint have turned up what they think to be a member of the WSC: Lady Cecilia Wallace of England.
    • She was the first woman to serve as Chief Scientific Adviser of the Ministry of Defense, and she sits on the Defense Council of the UK.
    • Stark confirmed that HYDRA soldiers were using weaponry similar to UK soldiers.

LOKI
  • Loki vanished during a conversation with Amora. A power surge took out monitoring equipment and some electronics, which Stark repaired and replaced.
    • He then used Steve's shield to control Stark long enough to take down the magic detection protocols and dig through Stark's work researching magic.

SVALBARD
  • HYDRA has turned its portion of Svalbard into a tightly defended fortress. They are based in a castle built into a mountain with weapons manufacturing facilities inside the mountain.
    • Mind-controled polar bears carry cameras to act as part of the surveillance net. Yes, really.
    • There is also CCTV, motion detection, etc., etc., etc..
    • A team of Avengers (+SHIELD, +Asgardian) put on some HYDRA costumes and hit Svalbard as recon.
      • Loki and Schmidt are fighting. Stark intends to capitalize on that.
      • Schmidt killed Wei Jr. which pissed Loki off.
      • Stark believes that Schmidt is powering the production of Tesseract-tech weapons using himself somehow.
      • There are a lot of Tesseract-tech weapons: bullets, missiles.
      • Also pigeons.

LOCAL & WORLD NEWS
  • SHIELD is back under Fury's control. Fury and his agents are picking through the pieces and putting the band back together.
  • The UN summit with its meetings of world leaders included public discussion of the Avengers:
    • Other countries are putting together similar teams, although generally they don't have the cachet of the Avengers.
    • The Avengers are recognized as an international team, but with SHIELD still in the shadows, there have been calls for greater transparency and direct accountability on the part of the Avengers to the UN.
    • The Avengers generally get a thumbs-up from the UN.
    • Loki's absence was noted and remarked upon both by those in the UN and by the press.
  • The basement level of the mansion is under (re)construction. There may be some morning noises which penetrate even the very good sound-proofing.

WATCHERS
  • SHIELD is under Fury's control again.
    • All hostages (including Selvig) have been reclaimed and will surely be or have been de-brainwashed.
    • Helicarrier saved by Sif, Pietro, Wanda. Yay heroes!
    • SHIELD HQ is somewhat sparsely populated at the moment as they work on getting agents back from reassignment.
    • Security and computer systems will need to be reinstalled.
    • Amora was being held captive by Schmidt. Oops? We rescued her?? She's staying at the mansion for now???
    • More info here: http://avengers-assembled.dreamwidth.org/29763.html
  • Schmidt moved his shit to Svalbard. Janet's tracking devices and Amora's intel agree on this.
    • A recon team will be hitting Svalbard on Wednesday.
    • Tony and Bruce have Stark Industries satellites tuned to Tesseract frequencies. What do you know: Svalbard.
SOME GUY
  • Some Wei guy in China was killed by a mysterious assassin, however the Avengers captured Loki in the meantime.

WSC
  • ???

LOKI
  • Loki's being guarded by the Avengers in a room in an old SI facility. He's being watched and monitored and current plans are to hold him until SHIELD is clear, then transfer him so that he can be tried. On Earth.

Updates: If you have anything to go in next week's update, or have any questions about this update, poke me on Stark!

LOCAL & WORLD NEWS
  • While the Avengers vs. Loki news item cycled pretty fast off of the 24/7 news cycle, there remains heightened interested in Avenger activities.
  • There are a few mutterings in Germany regarding the Stuttgart attack, but nothing firm has come forward yet.
  • Loki otherwise made of Teflon, the weasely little shit.

WATCHERS
  • Nearly all of the SHIELD agents have been released, but a handful remain under Schmidt's control. One was killed, ostensibly in retaliation for Thor's actions. They still have Selvig.
  • SHIELD HQ is mostly a skeleton crew of HYDRA agents. Phase 2 and Tesseract-related projects are their main interests.
  • Janet has dropped tracking devices on items likely to be shipped out.
  • Amora will be questioning underlings to see if anyone knows where it is all going.
  • Tony and Bruce have Stark Industries satellites tuned to Tesseract frequencies.
  • Thor will be taking Stark's files on Asgardian biology to Schmidt, at which point Schmidt is to vacate SHIELD and allow it to return to the control of Fury, et al.
  • The Avengers will figure out where Schmidt is hiding his new toys and then go and TAKE THEM BACK and PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE.

WSC
  • Clint and Nat returned from Russia with contacts and information on Loki's new friends amidst Russia's rich and powerful.
  • Rhodes dropped by with information that a SHIELD asset is being used as leverage on his father, who otherwise seems ... pretty non-descript. AVENGERS ... INVESTIGATE.

A PROBLEM LIKE AMORA
  • Amora and Steve had a lovely date. We will be testing to see how far she can be trusted: just how much less than we can throw her, etc.

THE BLIGHT
  • Sif has revealed that the debris found outside of Sleepy Hollow contain the same runes and structure she sees while teleporting to Midgard.
  • Sif's sword activated a holographic projection of a star-rune being chased by another rune. A riddle!
  • Vision's instruments suffered severe interference while Sif's sword touched the debris. Vision was not able to determine what caused the interference.

Scene ideas:
* Take a trip to China.
* Poke at the spaceship.
* There are more Chitauri weapons out there!

LOCAL & WORLD NEWS
  • So. Loki presented himself to the UN as an ambassador from Asgard during a nice, mild, boring speech and the Avengers flirted with alcohol poisoning by watching and drinking every time he lied.
  • Steve denounced him the next day as the mastermind behind the attacks on NYC.
  • Reactions are VERY mixed: there are a lot of voices strongly in support of Steve and demanding investigation into his allegations, but also voices asking for proof, and is this evidence that the Avengers are a dangerous, reactionary force?
  • The Avengers are being closely watched right now for any more spontaneous declarations of war or arrests.

WATCHERS
  • Stark negotiated a slow release of SHIELD hostages from Schmidt's control.
  • Some of SHIELD's warehouses that they hit have shown signs that HYDRA got there first.
  • Approximately 15 agents are under SHIELD control who can be considered hostages. Included in that number is Erik Selvig.
  • SHIELD HQ is mostly a skeleton crew according to Jan. They are clearing out the lower levels.
  • Phase 2 and Tesseract-related projects are their main interests.
  • Speaking of Tesseract-related projects, Stark eventually admits that he thinks Loki was Schmidt's date and was interested in the arc reactor. He defends himself by pointing out she's hot. Stop judging him.

A PROBLEM LIKE AMORA
  • Amora and Steve are going on a date! She appears to have been introduced to and taken up with Schmidt at the charity ball.

THE BLIGHT
  • Known as the Blight to the Asgardians, there's an alien presence on Earth who can take the form of people. Amora knows something of it and told Thor. They made a deal. It's none of our business, Thor says.
  • The Blight has some relation not to Asgard, but to realms that Asgard knows and is known from legends of an ancient attack.

Scene ideas:
* Find out where they are taking stuff?
* JUST WHO IS THE WSC ANYWAY.
* There are more Chitauri weapons out there!

 THIS WEEK ON AVENGERS ASSEMBLED

LOCAL & WORLD NEWS
  • An Asgardian diplomat is scheduled to speak to the UN Assembly next week. There's much rumor in diplomatic circles about the dark-haired Asgardian, so svelte and charming, and his ties to some of the highest circles of power in the US, UK, Russia, and China.
  • There will be a charity ball to celebrate the completion of repairs on the city's major infrastructure. Proceeds will go to victims of the Chitauri invasion.
  • The buildings themselves are being repaired at a much slower pace. Some streets remain closed in the area around Stark Tower which bore the brunt of the Chitauri attack due to the instability of the buildings under repair.
  • Peter, Vance, and Janet stopped a bank robbery and reclaimed Chitauri weaponry which had not been accounted for after the invasion. Only one of them blew up. On accident, Vance says.
  • There's a Bifrost gateway in Valhalla, NY.

WATCHERS
  • Schmidt has taken full and lawful posession of SHIELD with the backing of the WSC.
  • JARVIS, having compared personnel lists from before the Chitauri invasion to those now and calculated for recent transfers and terminations, suggests that there are approximately 27 agents under SHIELD control who can be considered hostages. Included in that number is Erik Selvig.
  • Steve and Pietro blew up a weapons depot.
  • Natasha and Clint left for Russia to start finding out who the WSC so we can tell them to FIND A NEW DIRECTOR, WTF GUYS.
  • Stark dropped off a thing to help erase SHIELD's files. Schmidt got mad and kicked him around a little then told him that they could keep blowing up weapons depots as much as they want as long as they leave Schmidt and HQ alone. So the Avengers immediately started planning to poke around at HQ AND reclaim all the weapons.
  • PS: SHIELD had off-site data backups that Schmidt now controls.
  • PPS: Stark has some data from Schmidt which Schmidt claims to be data SHIELD didn't want released to the Avengers.

A PROBLEM LIKE AMORA
  • Amora maybe turned her bracelet invisible after an attempt by Vance and Vision to grab it failed. Stark and Banner are working on magic-detectors.

Scene ideas:
* Destroy RECLAIM SHIELD's weapon stockpiles! HYDRA isn't letting go of them easily, but we're moving them into, uh, SI storage for the interim. Stark will almost certainly probably give them back later maybe.
* JUST WHO IS THE WSC ANYWAY.
* There are more Chitauri weapons out there!

Avengers Plans:
* Jan will be off-camming her adventures into SHIELD HQ. She will be able to get in and get out without getting caught, but possibly not without detection. Update once she talks to Schmidt!
* Spider-Man, are you still trying to sneak in? If so, you may want to talk to Schmidt.
* Find out who doesn't get along with HYDRA or SHIELD and see if they are taking contracts.
* Get a solid plan in place where that distraction & rescue is concerned.

THIS WEEK ON AVENGERS ASSEMBLED

SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
  • An alarm went off at SHIELD HQ last night. It was swiftly shut off but followed in short order by Natasha calling on the Avengers.
  • Fury is no longer the director of SHIELD by the order of the World Security Council. Fury, Coulson, Hill, Natasha, and Clint have lost contact with any last agents inside of SHIELD. There is no word from the ex-SHIELD agents who got reassigned to other agencies recently, but neither are they out of contact, or dead. They may not have heard.
  • SHIELD HQ and the Helicarrier are under the command of forces loyal to Schmidt as the new Director. Power went back on at HQ around midnight, but there is no way to access SHIELD servers. All external network connections have been cut.
  • Fury will be recovering for a few days, but he just happened to have a backup base that is off the SHIELD radar: a personal safe(ware)house that the SHIELD renegades -- that's you guys -- can use as a base once you stop bleeding on the pillows at Avengers Mansion.
  • Fury's priorities are destroying some SHIELD weapons stockpiles -- say, Phase 2 stuff, the Chitauri weapons -- and getting in to send a kill code to wipe SHIELD files. He says the the most secret of secret stuff is temporarily secure because they don't have Fury or Hill and their access codes. But that won't last long. THEN TAKING SHIELD BACK OVER BECAUSE MOTHERFUCKERS ETC.
  • Loki vanished Thor. Stark and Jarvis have no idea where Thor is. Wherever he is, he can't be reached.

A PROBLEM LIKE AMORA
  • Vance and Vision are on deck to deal with her by trying to grab her bracelet, which we think to be the source of her power. Otherwise all Avengers should avoiiiiid her. Stark and Banner are working on magic-detectors.

Scene ideas:
* Destroy SHIELD's weapon stockpiles! They aren't letting go of them without a fight, though.
* Check homeless shelters for Thor.
* Check in with other former SHIELD agents.
* JUST WHO IS THE WSC ANYWAY.
* Those Chitauri weapons are still out there. Spider-Man has a bead on some of them!

  • The world still struggles to come to terms with the end of Earth's isolation. The UN has yet to ratify any treaties and individual countries have had varied responses. While some, such as the United States and the Scandanvian nations, welcome the Asgardians as allies, many other countries remain wary.
  • This is not helped when the leader of an isolated Eastern European country named Latveria denounces Thor as a warmonger. He has produced tapes of Thor's declarations of war which have bolstered those wary of these strange aliens. Latveria's isolation and the questionable treatment of its political prisoners has not made the denunciation truly damning, but there are some serious reservations out there and a lot of nations are getting twitchy about their sovereignty.
  • Speaking of Latverian sovereignty, Clint, Janet, and Natasha gathered information accessible by SHIELD and Avengers: http://avengers-assembled.dreamwidth.org/13932.html
  • There has been quite a bit of organizational restructuring going on at SHIELD in the wake of the Chitauri invasion. Vast swaths of the lower ranks have been shuffled out and new faces installed by Fury's bosses. They draw more widely from agencies across the world, with a heavy influx from Europe. Many of Clint and Natasha's fellow agents find jobs in other organizations; Hill, Coulson, and Fury find new faces everywhere they look.
  • Namor and his people are all over the news following the incident in the Upper Bay. The footage is not great and speculation is running wild. More aliens? That's the favored theory.
  • Amora's causing trouble and mind-controlling people. If you see a hot blonde, maybe you should think twice before getting her number.
  • New York Update: Major infrastructure repairs are on track to be completed in two weeks thanks to a phenomenal effort on the part of city workers and the National Guard. That includes utilities and streets. The buildings themselves are being repaired at a much slower pace. Some streets remain closed in the area around Stark Tower which bore the brunt of the Chitauri attack due to the instability of the buildings under repair.
  • The Avengers remain of great interest to the public. A Captain America film from 1990 has been resurrected and is bringing in record numbers for a rerelease. Stark Industries stock floats high on a wave of public goodwill strengthened by the company's efforts to help rebuild the city. Everyone wants to know who the guy with the arrows was, who the red-headed hottie was and why was she the only woman, who was the green guy, who put on Captain America's suit again, and was that other guy really an alien named Thor? Everyone already knows who Iron Man is. BORING.

Scene ideas:
* There are still Chitauri weapons out there! I hope no one robs a bank with one.
* The new agents at SHIELD are somewhat stand-offish. Is it because of so many people being new all at once?
* Where did the other agents go? ASK ME AND FIND OUT.
* Where did Namor's people go? WHO WANTS TO GO LOOK.
* Asgard needs an embassy. Just sayin'.

Updates: If you have anything to go in next week's update, let me know by @sending *staff or poking me on Stark!
