- The world still struggles to come to terms with the end of Earth's isolation. The UN has yet to ratify any treaties and individual countries have had varied responses. While some, such as the United States and the Scandanvian nations, welcome the Asgardians as allies, many other countries remain wary.
- This is not helped when the leader of an isolated Eastern European country named Latveria denounces Thor as a warmonger. He has produced tapes of Thor's declarations of war which have bolstered those wary of these strange aliens. Latveria's isolation and the questionable treatment of its political prisoners has not made the denunciation truly damning, but there are some serious reservations out there and a lot of nations are getting twitchy about their sovereignty.
- Speaking of Latverian sovereignty, Clint, Janet, and Natasha gathered information accessible by SHIELD and Avengers: http://avengers-assembled.dreamwidth.org/13932.html
- There has been quite a bit of organizational restructuring going on at SHIELD in the wake of the Chitauri invasion. Vast swaths of the lower ranks have been shuffled out and new faces installed by Fury's bosses. They draw more widely from agencies across the world, with a heavy influx from Europe. Many of Clint and Natasha's fellow agents find jobs in other organizations; Hill, Coulson, and Fury find new faces everywhere they look.
- Namor and his people are all over the news following the incident in the Upper Bay. The footage is not great and speculation is running wild. More aliens? That's the favored theory.
- Amora's causing trouble and mind-controlling people. If you see a hot blonde, maybe you should think twice before getting her number.
- New York Update: Major infrastructure repairs are on track to be completed in two weeks thanks to a phenomenal effort on the part of city workers and the National Guard. That includes utilities and streets. The buildings themselves are being repaired at a much slower pace. Some streets remain closed in the area around Stark Tower which bore the brunt of the Chitauri attack due to the instability of the buildings under repair.
- The Avengers remain of great interest to the public. A Captain America film from 1990 has been resurrected and is bringing in record numbers for a rerelease. Stark Industries stock floats high on a wave of public goodwill strengthened by the company's efforts to help rebuild the city. Everyone wants to know who the guy with the arrows was, who the red-headed hottie was and why was she the only woman, who was the green guy, who put on Captain America's suit again, and was that other guy really an alien named Thor? Everyone already knows who Iron Man is. BORING.
Scene ideas:
* There are still Chitauri weapons out there! I hope no one robs a bank with one.
* The new agents at SHIELD are somewhat stand-offish. Is it because of so many people being new all at once?
* Where did the other agents go? ASK ME AND FIND OUT.
* Where did Namor's people go? WHO WANTS TO GO LOOK.
* Asgard needs an embassy. Just sayin'.
Updates: If you have anything to go in next week's update, let me know by @sending *staff or poking me on Stark!
