Yes. I will conjure lightning and strike her with it.

I think that Amora has put some sort of mind control or spell on Valkyrie. She was behaving very strangely towards me today with new clothes that seemed very unlike her, and she mentioned Amora having helped her to select and purchase them. Her eyes also seemed strange, as if she wasn't quite in her own head.

Thor, is there any methods you have of undoing Asgardian methods like this?

Sincerely,
Captain Steve Rogers

Subj: Submarine Hostage Situation

Just in case people don't know, I guess:

Yesterday Spider-Man, Vision and I were on our way to a training exercise with Agent Coulson of SHIELD when they got word that a submarine had captured a cruise ship in the harbor and was holding it. We flew out there on the heli-carrier and boarded the cruise ship and found some pointy-eared people with weird harpoon weapons feeding a bunch of sharks and dangling eight executives over the sharks. I guess they were from a company called Oracle or something like that and they'd been on a booze cruise around the harbor when they got captured.

Anyway, so Coulson talked to the leader of the submarine people, who said his name was Namor. He said the executives had broken a deal with them and gone behind their backs to do something that was bad for the ocean? It wasn't really clear, exactly. But they were pretty pissed about it. Coulson tried to talk the Namor guy down, but he wasn't really buying it. One of the executives told him the money came from an investor in Latveria, or something like that, and that seemed like what Namor wanted to know, so they started taking off. Spider-Man webbed up the prisoners so they didn't drop into the water, and we all hauled them back onto the ship and snapped the chains off and got the ship hauled back into the dock. I think SHIELD took the execs in for questioning. Vision went to sneak onto the sub as it left to see what he could find out, and SHIELD was supposed to pick him back up an hour later, I'm not sure what happened with that, exactly.

So, yeah. That is my "report", I guess. Just so you guys know what happened in case you didn't hear about it already.

Report attached. We got some info on security and layout.

Hawkeye and I stumbled across a farm with a lot of dead people and I'm pretty sure some missing body parts. Info in the report, along with photos. Have fun.

Info in the report includes:

  • Info on the security systems of Doom's castle, though it's a bit vague and only as specific as non-expert Janet can manage.
  • Both descriptions and drawings of 'mystical looking stuff' Jan saw in the labs.
  • A layout of a decently substantial portion of the castle
  • Indication that Schmidt heads out and about with some frequency, and the door he uses to do it.
  • Description of the Chitauri tech she found, as well as some human-looking tech kept (used?) with it.
  • Couple of times, there looked to be friction between Doom and Loki, but it never seemed to escalate.
  • Doom really does wear that armor everywhere. Everywhere.
  • The location of the farm where Clint and Natasha found a bunch of dismembered bodies that don't seem to add up to the needed number of wholes, as well as a bunker, which they searched thoroughly. From this log.
  • Pictures of the farm, the bodies, the bunker, etc etc.

  • The world still struggles to come to terms with the end of Earth's isolation. The UN has yet to ratify any treaties and individual countries have had varied responses. While some, such as the United States and the Scandanvian nations, welcome the Asgardians as allies, many other countries remain wary.
  • This is not helped when the leader of an isolated Eastern European country named Latveria denounces Thor as a warmonger. He has produced tapes of Thor's declarations of war which have bolstered those wary of these strange aliens. Latveria's isolation and the questionable treatment of its political prisoners has not made the denunciation truly damning, but there are some serious reservations out there and a lot of nations are getting twitchy about their sovereignty.
  • Speaking of Latverian sovereignty, Clint, Janet, and Natasha gathered information accessible by SHIELD and Avengers: http://avengers-assembled.dreamwidth.org/13932.html
  • There has been quite a bit of organizational restructuring going on at SHIELD in the wake of the Chitauri invasion. Vast swaths of the lower ranks have been shuffled out and new faces installed by Fury's bosses. They draw more widely from agencies across the world, with a heavy influx from Europe. Many of Clint and Natasha's fellow agents find jobs in other organizations; Hill, Coulson, and Fury find new faces everywhere they look.
  • Namor and his people are all over the news following the incident in the Upper Bay. The footage is not great and speculation is running wild. More aliens? That's the favored theory.
  • Amora's causing trouble and mind-controlling people. If you see a hot blonde, maybe you should think twice before getting her number.
  • New York Update: Major infrastructure repairs are on track to be completed in two weeks thanks to a phenomenal effort on the part of city workers and the National Guard. That includes utilities and streets. The buildings themselves are being repaired at a much slower pace. Some streets remain closed in the area around Stark Tower which bore the brunt of the Chitauri attack due to the instability of the buildings under repair.
  • The Avengers remain of great interest to the public. A Captain America film from 1990 has been resurrected and is bringing in record numbers for a rerelease. Stark Industries stock floats high on a wave of public goodwill strengthened by the company's efforts to help rebuild the city. Everyone wants to know who the guy with the arrows was, who the red-headed hottie was and why was she the only woman, who was the green guy, who put on Captain America's suit again, and was that other guy really an alien named Thor? Everyone already knows who Iron Man is. BORING.

Scene ideas:
* There are still Chitauri weapons out there! I hope no one robs a bank with one.
* The new agents at SHIELD are somewhat stand-offish. Is it because of so many people being new all at once?
* Where did the other agents go? ASK ME AND FIND OUT.
* Where did Namor's people go? WHO WANTS TO GO LOOK.
* Asgard needs an embassy. Just sayin'.

Updates: If you have anything to go in next week's update, let me know by @sending *staff or poking me on Stark!

SUBJ: Loki

He found us in a bar last night. I don't know how or what he hoped to accomplished. We opened fire, which did very little good, and he used his spear to plop me into Budapest. Gave me a hell of a burn, too.

Hawkeye escaped without harm. Still not clear how. He says Loki didn't touch him, but he's agreed to a full check-over once he returns. Van Dyne wasn't there, she's safe.

It feels like he let us go. I don't like it.

We'll be back tomorrow.
