aa_adminIn the aftermath of the attack on the SHIELD facility and the incident at the bar, over a dozen agents are dead, or with injuries that they are not expected to recover from. Dozens more are injured.
Loki, Schmidt, and Doom -- previously known to be a bit player that minorly annoyed SHIELD in some fairly insignificant ways, and as such, largely overlooked (EXCUSE ME DOOM IS MIGHTY -- THE GREATEST THREAT SHIELD HAS EVER KNOWN) -- are known to be working together. Some smartass called them the Masters of Evil. Loki and Schmidt escaped. Doom, apparently, was never actually on-site.
As a result, the World Security Council has pushed for an expansion of SHIELD's powers and authority. This includes (in Fury's wisdom), a wider recruitment for the Avengers Initiative.
There are equipment-related casualties as well:
Captain America's shield; Loki's Chitauri staff; 5 items of Chitauri technology, including weapons and vehicles. All of the Chitauri tech that SHIELD has is functionally dead: all residual power has been drained. There are melted piles of slag that were strange metal robots. Even Stark can only tell so much from them, and he is kind of annoyed. FIRST PYM AND NOW THIS. IS EVERYONE MAKING ROBOTS?
Anna is in custody. Piecing together information gained from testimony including Jane and Pepper, she's likely to stay in custody. Did you know she was from Latveria?
